The Sheldon Axis Infinity Lab Table is the latest in innovative products distributed by Longo Associates.  This student workstation has the ability to combine laboratory & lecture areas, thus eliminating the need for additional tablet arm chairs and/or two-student tables in a science classroom.

Another application for this modern student lab table is the science room renovation.  Older school building tend to have smaller classrooms, regardless of how the room is to be used.  In many instances these old classrooms when undergoing a renovation project do not have the room to safely (and cost effectively) house separate laboratory and lecture areas.  The Axis table in this case would safely occupy the classroom space currently available in creating a modern laboratory setting that still retains a classic lecture experience.

The significance of the project does not revolve around the design & specification of a superior laboratory product, but in the architect’s recognition of Sheldon’s superior construction & material usage.  When the general contractor attempted to substitute an inferior product made of wood and in lieu of the specified metal base and resin top – the architect REJECTED the submittal.
